Stéphane Gauthier is the Executive and Cultural Director of the Carrefour Francophone, a small not for profit business in Greater Sudbury. It is the hub of French language cultural and children services employing more than one hundred people. It staffs childcare centres in local French language schools in partnership with the two local boards. Le Carrefour also relaunched la Slague, an affiliate service that books touring musical and comedic acts.

Le Carrefour is also a partner in la Place des Arts. The new site located in downtown Greater Sudbury features a bistro, a grand hall, two smaller venues as well as offices for French languages companies. All community agencies, French, English, First Nations, and others use the facilities. It has become a jewel in the downtown core.

Stephane was president of the Board of Directors of Place des Arts during its planning and construction phase.

A former cultural reporter with Radio Canada, he co-founded what has become a major spring event, le Salon du livre.

Marcel Vaillancourt, journalist and entrepreneur, worked with Stephane at Radio Canada. In this get-together they trace Stephane’s journey from a hockey mad kid to a cultural leader contributing to the economic diversification of Greater Sudbury.
